Gevorg A. Poghosyan Full Member of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Doctor of Sociology, Professor, Director of the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Law, Founding President of Armenian Sociological Association.

The main areas of scientific interests of Prof. Poghosyan are political sociology, transition, migration and social trends in Armenia. G.Poghosyan is an author of 44 books and monographs and of about 160 scholarly articles. Among his publications are: An Armenian's Life in Armenia, Yerevan, 1996; Ten Years of Loneliness (Ed. G.Poghosyan), Yerevan, 1998; Migration Processes in Armenia (Ed. G. Poghosyan), Yerevan, 2003; The Modern Armenian Society. Peculiarities of Transformation. He is a member of many international organizations: International Sociological Association, Council of National Associations of ISA, European Sociological Association, ESOMAR, International Academy of Problems of Nature and Society, International Academy of Philosophy. Prof. Poghosyan is an editorial board member of many reputable magazines, including Sociological Studies, Problems of Philosophy, Monitoring of Public Opinion, VCIOM (Russia); Intellect, Personality, Civilization (Ukraine); Global Sociology (India); Armenian Studies and Bulletin of Social Sciences of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences. As a president of Armenian Sociological Association, he deals with a wide-range sociological research on political issues, including elections and problems of migration.
